Thoughts : why not?
So last night I finally ‘bit the bullet’ and booked a place on Joshua Summers Yin Yoga Course in Co. Cork, Ireland. I have long believed that a traditionally strong yang practice (think Ashtanga, Vinyasa etc.) should be supplemented with yin and with the Western World currently in disarray through an evident overdose of yang energy the timing couldn’t be better.
The course is a steal and will undoubtedly be worth every penny (and then some) but I had been stalling securing my place through fear. Aside from money earned whilst teaching yoga in India I haven’t had an income since the beginning of October. In the subsequent months I made the courageous, extremely scary, yet incredibly liberating decision not to return to my legal practice in London and so I have no idea when and where my next income will come from. Life is currently full of unknowns and whilst I have many projects in the pipeline, anyone who has set out on their own having decided to create their own ‘job’, often in an entirely different field having taken a complete plot twist in life, fear in many guises can creep in: a fear of failure, of temporarily having no income, fear of committing to anything.
Yet last night I decided to have faith. My new venture will succeed. I feel motivated, inspired and excited for all that lies ahead and ultimately, aside from needing to earn a living, I want it to succeed so that I may help others lead a happier and more fulfilled life. I plan on offering a balanced practice of both yin and yang yoga and I cannot do so without a solid understanding. The course is an investment, an opportunity for growth and to meet even more like-minded souls from around the world and will hopefully lead to a deeper connection with my own body and practice.
And so…I’m off to Cork and back to ‘yoga school’ this summer. The prep over a tasty eggs breakfast is already under way and the travel research has lead to the development of another exciting adventure. As my dear friend and philosophy teacher, Sudhir, would say: why not... take a @gwildernessadventures trip along The Atlantic Way whilst I’m down there?!!
