Thoughts : speak of your dreams
Yesterday I witnessed the marriage of two beautiful souls at the mother of Hindu weddings. It will be a day that I shall never forget and feel incredibly grateful to have been included in such a warm, colourful celebration of love between two truly special families! It got me thinking of the qualities displayed on the day that two people take the leap into married life: faith, tenacity and vulnerability.
Faith in their relationship and a belief that it will endure despite whatever life will throw at their shared journey ahead.
Determination and an unwavering work ethic that together they will fulfil their dreams.
Vulnerability and the 'lack of ego' evident in expressing their love for one another in the presence of hundreds of friends and family in the knowledge that they are surrendering their hearts to another whom they cannot control (you can love someone dearly with all of your heart and there is never any guarantee that the subject of your affection will reciprocate that love for the rest of their lives).
We put our happiness on hold, postponing the realisation of our dreams, often out of fear. We don’t speak of our dreams in fear of sounding fanciful, lofty and unrealistic. We dread others witnessing the impending failure of not attaining our goals and so we keep our hearts closed and avoid talk of our aspirations. We fear displaying vulnerability through a lack of faith that our dreams will ever come true and because of this element of doubt we often lack the tenacity to fully invest our energy into plans that would result in the fruition of our dreams.
So tonight why not ask yourself whether you too have been postponing your happiness and if so, why? What do you fear and what could you learn from my two dear friends? Don’t put your happiness on hold any longer. ✨
